Using Midjourney for pattern ideation

Sometimes, when I work on a new pattern, it happens that I use Midjourney for ideation… I wanted to create a fabric pattern, in Marimekko style, with the iconic Californian poppy. Using Midjourney helped me visualize various ways to stylize the flower.

The AI produced “patterns” do not take into account any pattern repeat.

Based on this ideation session, I drew a few patterns on my ipad with Procreate.
