Eco-friendly Surf Shack
The Ecofriendly Surf Shack Retreat, located on the North Coast of Oahu Island, Hawaii, is nested between the beach and the rainforest. This tiny home among lush greenery offers the simplicity of off-grid living together with homey comfort. Sustainability is a core value of the minimalistic dwelling: it’s equipped with a rainwater collector, solar panels, and a solar water heater.
To maximize the surface of the house, circulation between rooms has been left to the exterior deck, promoting immersion into the natural beauties of the surrounding landscapes. The shack is made up of two independent pods linked by a lanai in the middle, allowing seating with friends, family dining and gathering.

A selection of simple materials rooted in local traditions gives a soul to the small home:
black and white wallpaper with banana leaf pattern,
weaved rattan lighting fixtures and accessories,
weaved lau hala (pandanus leaves) wall and floor coverings.
