The Lemniscate
UC Berkeley envisioned a revitalized student housing experience, fostering a strong sense of community and preparing students for success both academically and professionally. The lobby's design reflects this vision, opening onto a dynamic lounge space. Each morning, a student team creatively reconfigures modular seating and foldable acoustic partitions, transforming the area into a unique and inspiring environment. This innovative approach encourages curiosity and fosters creativity. The lobby seamlessly flows into a café with communal seating, further promoting interaction and a sense of belonging.

Technology
Technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the design to enhance the student experience. UNEEQ Technology provides students with unique opportunities for engagement, allowing them to converse with their favorite Nobel Laureates, either individually within immersive inspirational pods or collaboratively in groups. Augmented reality experiences offer virtual travel without leaving the café. Wayfinding is simplified through embedded LED lighting in the carpet, which can even display messages on the floor. A smart countertop further integrates technology with a built-in menu chatbot and convenient wireless charging for cell phones.
